A GROUP of Swedish Scouts has arrived in Huddersfield.

Sixty-six Scouts and Cubs arrived on Saturday to visit the Marsh- based 11th Huddersfield Scouts and Cubs.

The Swedish Scouts are from Taybe, near the capital, Stockholm.

The Huddersfield Scouts visited the Swedish Scouts last year for a week of outdoor activities.

The Swedish Scouts will enjoy similar activities during their week- long stay in Huddersfield.

Yesterday, they started their visit by watching a `battle' by a medieval re-enactment group at Bradley Woods campsite, near Brighouse.

The Scouts will be staying at the camp throughout their visit.

Other activities will include climbing, hiking and archery.

The two Scout groups got to know each other because one of the 11th Huddersfield Cub leaders has a friend who moved to Stockholm.

Karl Chappell, Scout leader for the 11th Huddersfield group, said: "We had a brilliant time when we went to Sweden and now we hope to return the favour."
