IT’S a wrap for a Huddersfield film-maker whose movie was directed for free by Touch of Frost and Only Fools and Horses star David Jason.

Netherton’s Ben Sweet is delighted how smoothly the filming went over four days on set in Leeds last week.

The editors are now working on the film, named All The Way Up, to get it ready in time for its premiere at The Cannes International Film Festival in May.

David Jason offered his services for free after meeting Ben on the set of Terry Pratchett film, The Colour of Magic, and being impressed with his comedy script.

Ben, 31, told the Examiner: “David’s directing was brilliant and it was great to see him on the other side of the camera and offering up ideas from that angle.

“And he was able to give us some great ideas about the comedy side of things.

“There were a few out-takes that got a good giggle.”

Ben, alongside co-producer Shane Hamill, also bagged a string of stars to act in the British comedy.

Adrian Dunbar, known for films Richard III and My Left Foot, played the movie’s main character Charlie.

While Lee Ingleby, famous for his role as Stan Shunpike in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, played the bellboy.

Emmerdale’s Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard, made a cameo appearance.

Ben said: “It was fantastic to see Adrian and Lee bring the characters to life.

“And Chris was absolutely fantastic – his facial expressions are just great – he can say so much with just his face.”

The film was shot at The Queen’s Hotel near the railway station in Leeds.

The dark comedy is the story of Charlie, a character who has the perfect job, the perfect family and the perfect life.

But one day he decides to embark on an adulterous affair with a younger woman and sets off to meet her in a hotel room.

On the way he gets stuck in the lift where his subconscious mind begins to play tricks on him.

The film will premiere locally at the Holmfirth Film Festival.
