A MAN has been quizzed by detectives over alleged explosives crimes.

He was arrested in Huddersfield in a big police operation and was held in custody in Leeds.

The man is a 65- year-old from Leeds, but he was held after police swooped on a house in Longley.

It is believed the man had been living in Huddersfield for some time.

Police officers searched a house at Fanny Moor Crescent, Longley, and also a boarded-up cottage at nearby Fanny Moor Lane in a big operation late on Tuesday evening.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Acting on information received, a 65-year-old Leeds man has been arrested in connection with offences under the Explosive Substances Act."

Police said this had followed the searches of two addresses in the Lowerhouses area of Huddersfield.
