POLICE investigating a gang calling themselves the Ravensthorpe Terror Squad have arrested five people.

Officers swooped at homes yesterday and detained teenagers aged 16, 17 and 19, along with two men aged 22 and 25.

They were arrested just after 8am in raids on seven homes in Ravens-thorpe, one in Earlsheaton, Dewsbury, and one in Mirfield.

The arrests were carried out by officers from the Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The houses were searched and property seized.

The operation followed reports of robbery and assault – along with information put on the internet – by alleged gang members claiming to be in the Ravensthorpe Terror Squad.

Chief Insp Jon Carter, who is leading the investigation, said: “This operation marks the culmination of behind-the-scenes work to identify the individuals we suspect of being involved in offences.

“We are listening to local communities and we are taking positive action to address their concerns.

“This should serve as a warning to young people that criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.’’
