A FORMER college boss has returned to his old school at the age of 84 - to be taught IT by an ex-pupil.

Great-grandfather Frederick Morris decided to learn computing skills this Christmas, to keep in touch with his family in Europe and the US.

Now, Dumfries and Galloway College reckons its former principal is Scotland's oldest student.

"I'd been fighting against this for years," Mr Morris joked.

"But my family gave me a computer and that started it off."

Mr Morris, unable to operate his new present, popped into the Ewart Library in Dumfries to enrol on a computing course.

It was only then that he realised the library was affiliated to his old college and his teacher was to be Jack Groom, an ex-student from 1973.
