Calderdale will be flinging open the doors to its history when it welcomes people to view its celebrated landmarks.

Museums, churches, town halls and other fascinating buildings around Halifax will be organising tours, walks and activities as part of an event to mark the area’s heritage.

Open days are being held between September 12 to 15 to help bring local history and culture to life.

The Piece Hall, Clay House, Calderdale Industrial Museum, Gibson Mill and Square Chapel Centre for the Arts are among some of the buildings available to view.

A range of churches including Halifax Minster will also be running guided tours.

Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for communities Councillor Steve Sweeney said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to take a look at some of the most amazing buildings in Calderdale and to find out more our ambitious projects to conserve our history for future generations.”
