PUPILS at a Batley school took part in an abseiling challenge for a children’s hospice.

Youngsters at the Westfields Pupil Referral Unit went abseiling as part of their outdoor education programme.

They raised £137 in sponsorship for Martin House Hospice, a centre for children with life-limiting illnesses at Boston Spa, near Wetherby.

Zoe Wylde, from Westfields, said: “Staff at the hospice were extremely grateful.”

Seven of the pupils visited the hospice to have a look around and present the money.
