A FOOD shop in Honley has raised almost £1,200 for its chosen charity. .

Taylors’ Foodstore has been supporting Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees during 2011 as part of its policy of playing a role in the local community.

The shop, run by owner Tony Washington, supplies local fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, home baked goods, deli items, wines and spirits.

The store’s fundraising efforts included a Christmas extravaganza, including music from Honley Ladies Choir and Honley Male Voice Choir, tastings and the sale of Christmas goodies, including hampers.

Staff dressed in period costume and Father Christmas joined the festivities.

With donations from customers and suppliers, a total of £1,195 was raised.

Judith Churley, of Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees, received the cheque from store owner Tony Washington.
