RESIDENTS in two Bupa care homes in Huddersfield are calling on communities to reach out to older people over a cup of tea during this year’s Communi-tea Week.

The event, from April 19 to 25, uses tea-related social activities to help tackle the problems of isolation and loneliness in older people.

To celebrate the week, Lindley Grange Nursing Home will be hosting a Be Mugnificent tea party with musical entertainment on Monday, April 19, from 2pm, inviting the local community to join them and make new friends over a cuppa.

Home manager, Sandra Parry, said: “I think everyone here appreciates how difficult life can be when you’re feeling lonely or living on your own without the support of friends and relatives.

“Offering a friendly face can make all the difference and we’ll make sure there is plenty of tea and entertainment for all.”

Cleveland House Nursing Home in Edgerton is to host a tea dance with entertainers on Tuesday, April 20, from 2.30pm.
