A TEACHER is waiting to see if she has won a battle to clear her name.
Leonora Rustamova took her battle for unfair dismissal to an employment tribunal.
But the tribunal panel in Leeds has reserved its judgement and now Mrs Rustamova, of Salendine Nook, must wait several weeks.
She is fighting her sacking by Calder High School, Mytholmroyd, in a furore over a racy online novel that she wrote to help teach teenagers in her class.
Three months ago, Mrs Rustamova was cleared of any misdemeanours by the General Teaching Council (GTC).
And it ended a three-year nightmare for the former high school teacher – known as Miss Rusty – who was sacked from the job she loved.
She was fired by the head and school governors after coming up with the novel, Stop! Don’t Read This, which she said she had written to encourage literacy among Year 11 pupils.
Both sides presented evidence to the employment tribunal this week.
A spokesman for the Tribunals Service said: “The judge has reserved a decision and this will be notified to both parties in the near future. It is likely to take several weeks.”
Since her sacking, Mrs Rustamova has taken on two new jobs.
She works with adult education students in Leeds and with students at the University of Huddersfield.
