THIS is one of the tragic victims of drink-drive killer Glen Smith.

Tracy Easton, 23, was his partner and expecting his child when she was killed in a car crash in Elland, two days before Christmas last year.

The crash also claimed the life of Tracy's friend, Petra Dearnley, 28, a young mother who used to live in Lepton.

Smith, 30, of Firth Street, Rastrick, has been jailed for six years.

The sentence has already been condemned by road safety campaigners, pointing to the maximum penalty of 14 years for causing death by careless driving under the influence of alcohol.

Tracy's mum, Maureen, who lost her daughter and unborn grandchild in the crash, wept as Smith was locked up.

And she shouted: "It's not long enough" as he was led from the dock.

Outside Bradford Crown Court other friends and relatives also said Smith should have been given a much longer sentence.

All were appalled he had drunk four pints of strong lager and got behind the wheel of his car only 16 days after comp- leting an 18-month drink-driving ban.

After overtaking a fire engine at Park Road, Elland, he lost control of a Vauxhall Nova and demolished part of a three-foot high wall by the car park of The Collier's Arms pub.

Tracy, Petra and Diane Oliver, 35, who were all in the back seat of Smith's car without seatbelts, were ejected through the rear window during the crash.

Diane escaped with a fractured cheekbone and bruising, but the other two women were killed outright by the impact.

Front seat passenger Stephen Maloney, 25, who shattered his leg and tore tendons and ligaments in the smash, had to be cut free from the car.

Smith walked free from the wreckage and was sitting in the pub when police arrived.

He pleaded guilty to causing the women's deaths by careless driving while over the prescribed limit. He also admitted driving without insurance and not in accordance with a driving licence.

In a breath test after the crash, Smith had 58 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the limit is 35.
