A TEENAGER appeared in court accused of breaching his bail conditions.

Curtis Nelson, of Mallinson Drive, Brackenhall, is awaiting sentence for burglary charges at Bradford Crown Court.

Kirklees magistrates were told that the 18-year-old breached his bail conditions on April 26.

Vanessa Schofield, prosecuting, said that he tampered with the strap on his tag.

The teen was arrested and remanded in custody, but yesterday he denied the charge.

Mike Sisson-Pell, defending, said that the tag had been too tightly fitted.

He said that Nelson had tried to move the tag to relieve the pressure on his leg.

Mr Sisson-Pell said: “In doing this he has weakened or broken the pins on his strap.

“He was messing about with his sibling when the tag came off.”

The solicitor said that Nelson then contacted G4S who ensured that a new tag was fitted.

Magistrates found that the breach wasn’t proved and agreed to readmit Nelson to bail.

His bail conditions are residence, an electronically monitored curfew between 7pm and 7am, non contact of prosecution witnesses and not to enter the Bradley area.
