A TEENAGER plummeted down a narrow gap on a nightclub roof early this morning.

The 17-year-old from Newsome became trapped and phoned 999 on his mobile phone.

But firefighters struggled to locate the youth at Visage in Folly Hall.

A rescue team was called from Rawdon near Leeds and another crew drafted in from Elland as firefighters searched the roof.

He was found at the back of the complex.

Crews reached him from Cable St using as aerial ladder to help in the search.

He had fallen 20ft down a gap between the nightclub and neighbouring Waterloo Trade Windows.

Firefighter Mark Colley from Huddersfield said: "Luckily he had not suffered any spinal injuries. He had hurt his ankle, but we don't know what he was doing on the roof.

"If he hadn't had a mobile phone he'd probably be still there now ."
