A TEENAGER has been locked up for an attack on a nurse in Huddersfield.

Ashley Wayne Smith, 19, attacked Mr Richard Sill as he slept in a camper van at Ainley Top.

Leeds Crown Court was told Mr Sill, a nurse, had just taken up a job in the area and was looking for a new home when he was attacked.

Mr Richard Smith, prosecuting, said Mr Sill was woken at 1.30am on April 12 by a man who claimed to have had an accident and needed a taxi.

As he looked for his phone he was dragged from the camper van and attacked by Smith and two other men.

He was badly beaten, bundled into a car and driven to Brighouse.

Mr Smith said Mr Sill was again assaulted before being driven to a cashpoint in Brighouse and forced to draw out £500.

Mr Sill finally managed to escape when the car stopped in a cul de sac.

Police later found the camper van which had been driven to Batley and Smith, of Dale Lane, Heckmondwike, was traced.

He was sentenced to three and a half years in a young offenders institution and banned from driving for two years after admitting kidnap, assault and drink driving.
