A TEENAGE girl was forced to the ground and robbed by a man believed to be carrying a knife.

The 17-year-old had seen a friend off on the bus in Huddersfield town centre and was on Queensgate near the Shorehead roundabout when she was approached by the attacker.

He pushed her in the chest, held a sharp object against her arms and pushed her again. She fell to the ground before the man searched her pockets and took a £100 mobile phone.

He ran off towards the town centre.

Sgt Jim Carter said: “This was a grown man who targeted a teenage girl in a totally unprovoked and frightening incident.”

The attacker was white, about 30, 5ft 8ins tall and slim. He wore a grey hooded top, a baseball cap, grey tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Anyone with information about the incident, at about 8pm on Monday, should call Sgt Carter on 01484 436575 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
