A 17-YEAR-OLD arrested in connection with a fire that killed two children in Derbyshire has been ruled out as a suspect, police said.

A woman, 23, and her baby escaped from a first floor window. A girl, five, and a boy, two, died in the fire in Edale Way, Fairfield, in Buxton on Friday.

The eight-month-old baby boy and mother, named locally as Fiona Adams, are in a stable condition in hospital.

The teenager was arrested on Saturday and has now been released from custody.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotterill said: "After a thorough investigation I am satisfied that this 17-year-old is not involved in the fire.

"The police investigation is still very much ongoing and the help and co-operation of the community is pivotal to it being successful."

He appealed for anyone with photographs or videos of the scene to contact police. Post-mortem exam-inations were held on the two children on Sunday.
