A TEENAGER bravely battled back after a man tried to steal his motorbike at traffic lights.

The 17-year-old was waiting at red lights at the junction of Colne Bridge Road and Leeds Road at Colne Bridge when he felt a bang from behind at 10.30pm last night.

Someone grabbed hold of him and the victim took his helmet off.

He was punched at least twice in the face and kicked several times by a man who demanded his machine.

But he fought back and the would-be thief eventually fled empty-handed.

He was not in a car and so must have hit the back of the bike with his fist.

He is white, aged 18 or 19, 5ft 10in tall and of medium build.

He wore a black hooded jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and a white baseball cap.

Anyone who saw him or has any information should contact detectives at Kirklees CID robbery team on 01484 436685 or Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555 111.
