A teenage cyclist who came off her bike suffering serious head injuries remains in a “critical” condition.

The 18-year-old, who has not been named, wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.

The accident happened at 8.26am on Monday in Station Road, Marsden, and the circumstances of the accident are still unclear.

Police said no other vehicle was involved and a witness told the Examiner the cyclist’s helmet was hooked around the handlebars.

Passers-by rushed to help and the injured woman was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

Police said she had just arrived in Marsden on the train from Manchester. Investigations are continuing.
