A TEENAGE girl was attacked by two men in Lindley.

She was assaulted by the men who tried to steal her mobile phone, after they had followed her from Birkby.

Detectives in Huddersfield are now appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery on East Street.

It happened shortly after 3pm on Friday, April 29.

The 16-year-old girl had walked up Birkby Road and passed the two men. A short time later, having crossed Halifax Road into East Street, she was confronted by the men in front of her.

She was on her mobile phone at the time but ended the call and held her phone by her side.

As she passed the suspects again, she was stopped and the men tried to grab the victim's phone from her.

A struggle ensued, but a passing car caused the suspects to run off towards Birkby Road.

The girl was not hurt during the incident and nothing was stolen from her.

She described the suspects as two Asian men in their 20s and around 5ft 6in to 5ft 8ins in height with short cropped black hair.

One was slim and wore a black hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms.

The second was of chunky build and wore a grey coloured hooded top with either a yellow or orange logo on the hood and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Craig Foulkes at Huddersfield CID on 01484 436556.
