A TEENAGER has made it to the finals of a national contest to win a contract with a top modelling agency.

Joy-Louise Barrow, from Cowlersley, is one of 50 female finalists in the Yahoo Model of the Year 2005 competition.

She discovered the happy news on her 17th birthday.

Fifty male finalists were also chosen for the contest, which is being run in conjunction with Envenio, an agency supplying people for TV, photography and film work.

All the finalists had to travel to London on November 26 for one last judging session.

Judges now have until December 15 to decide which man and which woman will be chosen to win a contract with Storm Model Agency.

The agency represents fashion icons such as Elle MacPherson and Kate Moss.

The winners will also start their portfolio with a professional photo shoot in London with a top fashion photographer.

Joy-Louise, a pupil at the White Rose School of Beauty in Huddersfield, entered the contest by submitting four photos on to the Yahoo Model of the Year 2005 website.

Entries had to be in by November 21.

The finalists' photos and details are now on the website, where people are currently voting for their favourite contestant.

So far, Joy-Louise is ranking third out of the female contestants with 1,927 votes.
