TEENAGE mums got the chance of a bit of “me time” thanks to beauty therapists.

Girls who attend the Kirklees Home-Start sessions were treated to a bit of pampering courtesy of the White Rose School of Beauty.

More than a dozens teenagers were treated to manicures and make-overs thanks to the team from the Standard House school.

Home-Start group worker Jacqui Brown who leads sessions at the centre in Coule Royd, Dalton, said the pampering sessions aimed to give the girls the chance to relax and take a bit of time out for themselves.

Jacqui runs twice-weekly sessions for around 16 mums and pregnant girls who are under 20, with co worker Angie Schofield.

Kirklees Home-Start is a charity which supports and trains volunteers to help families in need.

Funding for the sessions was from Kirklees Teenage Pregnancy Strategy and BBC Children In Need.

Cases are referred to the charity from doctors, social services or other agencies and aim to help prevent young mums feeling isolated or excluded.

The mums attend for the two-hour sessions and their children are looked after by volunteers while they discuss a variety of issues for support, help and advice.

They are also offered help with training and gaining employment and have taken part in courses such as basic maths and English, food hygiene and parenting skills.
