Victims targeted in night-time muggings

TWO 19-year-old men were hurt when they were robbed in vicious attacks in Huddersfield.

In one incident, the victim, from Lockwood, was grabbed by two robbers just as he was about to go into a fast food restaurant.

He had gone to KFC on Leeds Road and was about to open the outside door when he was hauled back by the thieves at 8pm on Sunday night.

They dragged him to some nearby wasteland behind a row of houses and threw him to the ground.

He banged his head on a wall as he went down.

At first, the thieves demanded a mobile phone. When he said he did not have one they stole £10 he had for his meal.

During the struggle they pulled off one of his trainers. He was also kicked in the ribs and slightly injured.

But he struggled free, got the trainer back and hit one of his attackers in the face.

The robbers then fled. Both are white and in their late teens.

One is 6ft tall and medium to large build, with brown spiky hair and a one-inch scar or birthmark on his cheekbone, near his left eye.

He wore a black denim jacket, black jeans and sandy-coloured boots.

His accomplice is 5ft 8in tall and skinny, with bleached blond hair flicked at the front, a large nose, big lips and thin beard.

He wore a white jacket with Kark Karnie written on the front and Compton across the back.

The letters are all black.

In the other incident, the man was attacked late at night.

The victim, from Waterloo, was walking close to Huddersfield bus station when two men yelled at him at 11pm on Friday.

He carried on walking, but they caught up with him, demanded money and blocked his way.

He handed over a small amount of change, but one of the robbers tried to grab his wallet.

The victim kept hold of it, turned and ran.

But he had not gone far when one of the thieves caught him and pinned him against a wall and knocked him down. The victim was elbowed in the back and kicked in the mouth, but struggled free and escaped towards Market Street.

He suffered cuts and grazes to his chin and inside his mouth.

One of the attackers is white, aged 17 to 25 and around 5ft 7in tall, with short dark spiky hair and a wispy moustache.

He wore a waist-length beige or white hooded sweatshirt and dark bottoms.

His accomplice is African- Caribbean, aged 17 to 25 and just over 6ft tall. He wore dark clothes and a black baseball cap.
