A TEENAGE cyclist was fighting for his life last night after an accident with a car in Upper Hopton.

The 15-year-old boy was riding his bike along Hopton Avenue when he was in collision with a car yesterday morning.

He was airlifted by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter to hospital.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to the incident, which we believed to be a road traffic collision between a car and a bicycle at 7.37am.

“The cyclist was a 15-year-old male and he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary – via the air ambulance – with serious injuries.”

At 6pm yesterday, police confirmed the boy remained in a “serious” condition at Leeds General Infirmary.

Any witnesses to the accident were asked to call Southern Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.
