A SCHOOLBOY indecently assaulted a teenage girl in the centre of Huddersfield.

At least one person challenged the offender after the incident outside Huddersfield bus station, but he managed to escape.

He approached the 17-year-old victim outside the station on Half Moon Street at 4.10pm on Wednesday.

He made a sexual comment and then indecently assaulted her.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Huddersfield Police's intelligence unit, said: "Several people saw what happened and at least one woman challenged the youth about what he had done.

"We would urge anyone who saw what happened to contact us."

The attacker is African Caribbean, aged 14 or 15, about 5ft 3ins tall and skinny with short black hair.

He wore a black school uniform which is thought to have a red logo on the sweater.

He was wearing a tie which may also be red and carried a rucksack.
