Two teenagers were threatened with a knife and robbed on the Spen Valley Greenway at Ravensthorpe on Sunday night.

The boy and girl, aged 16 and 13, were approached by two youths near the Ravenswharfe pub off Huddersfield Road at just after 6pm.

One of the youths demanded the 16-year-old boy’s phone. When he refused to hand it over the youth told his accomplice: “Show him the knife. Let’s stab him.”

The second youth showed them what looked like a wooden handle with a metal blade and the boy handed over his Blackberry phone and the girl her pink iPhone 4S. The youths fled.

The first suspect was described as Asian, aged 17-18, 6ft 2in to 6ft 3in tall, of medium build with short, flat black hair. He had a deep voice with a local accent.

He was wearing a black, thick jacket and black tracksuit bottoms.

His accomplice was also Asian, 5ft 7in tall and of chubby build. He also wore a black winter-style jacket and dark jeans.

The teenagers were shocked but unhurt.

Anyone with information should ring Dewsbury CID on 101.
