COUNCIL house tenants in Kirklees say their voice is going unheard.

One in five feel no-one listens to their views, according to a survey.

The Audit Commission has now urged officials to work on the complaints.

Its plea came after an inspection of the council housing management service.

Experts judged the service to be fair with a number of strengths.

But the inspection team said tenants found the points-based housing allocation scheme difficult to understand and information on the choice and availability of homes was limited.

A council spokesman said many of the points were being addressed.

"However, we are surprised at the findings that some tenants feel their views are not fully listened to," he said.

"Our returns indicate that tenant satisaction is much higher than that. Clearly, we will have to investigate this."
