A MUGGER who took part in a terrifying attack on a schoolboy has been locked up for three years.

Royston Thomas, 19, of no fixed address, carried out the robbery in Huddersfield with another man two weeks after being released from custody, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.

Prosecutor Stephen Wood said that during the attack on Manchester Road Thomas threatened to break the boy's jaw as he struggled. He pinned him down while his accomplice stole a wallet containing just over £20.

Later, Thomas, whose father was murdered when he was eight, broke into a house at night while the owner was in hospital. He was caught in the house.

Thomas pleaded guilty to the robbery and burglary charges and asked for five burglaries, a robbery and a theft to be considered.

His lawyer, Martin Robertshaw, asked that Thomas be given credit for his guilty pleas.

Thomas was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders' institution for the mugging and 18 months for the house burglary.
