TWO young entrepreneurs from Huddersfield met the Prince of Wales - to thank him for helping them set up in business.

Lindsey Kaye and Marcus Bladen both received cash from a special scheme for rural businesses run by the Prince's Trust.

And they are among five beneficiaries of the Rural Opportunities for Self Employment (ROSE) project to meet trust patron Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall when they visited Richmond, North Yorkshire.

Lindsey, 28, of Slaithwaite, received a low-cost start-up loan to set up LK Equine Therapy in April last year.

The company provides massages and other forms of therapy for horses competing in showjumping and eventing.

Marcus, 22, of Outlane, received backing from the ROSE project to set up a dry-stone walling business, Creative Walls, serving farmers, landscape gardeners and homeowners.

Lindsey and Marcus were both unemployed before launching their businesses.

The ROSE project was set up in 2002 to help young people in rural areas set up in business.

Help includes training, mentoring from business advisers and financial assistance.

Regional development agency Yorkshire Forward has provided £500,000 to the ROSE project in the past three years to help create more than 130 small businesses in rural areas in Yorkshire and the Humber.
