THE Galpharm Stadium has a new name for its north stand.
It will now be known as the Fantastic Media Stand after the stadium clinched a five-year sponsorship deal with the Birstall-based marketing and design agency.
The new stand’s name was unveiled yesterday by stadium managing director Ralph Rimmer and Fantastic representatives in time for the kick-off of Town’s centenary season against Stockport a week tomorrow.
The deal marks the end of the stadium’s decade-long partnership with Panasonic, which the stand was named after until yesterday.
Fantastic Media has been involved with Town and the rugby league Giants for a number of years, providing both clubs with media and marketing services.
Managing director Andy Hobson, a lifelong Town and Giants fan dubbed Captain Fantastic, said there was no better time to become involved with the stadium following recent major announcements from both clubs and the exciting launch of The HD One project on the site.
The project is a £100m-plus scheme to put the Galpharm at the hub of a major leisure and commercial complex that will include an outdoor ski slope, nightclubs, a casino and bingo hall, a music venue, a pool hall, flats, restaurants and a 150-bedroomed hotel.
“This is a superb time for us to increase our involvement with the Galpharm Stadium as it seems to be completely surrounded by optimism from all sides,’’ said Mr Hobson.
“My company not only wants to share in its undoubted future successes but also wants to play a part in making them happen.”
Fantastic Media was launched just two years ago, but has already enjoyed success, having won several awards at this year’s Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards.
The company provides services including corporate branding, public relations, market advertising, exhibitions, designs and also new media.
It has a list of high-profile clients throughout the sporting world.
Mr Rimmer said: “Andy has been mixed up with us in one form or another for some time now and it’s fair to say it was a fairly natural progression for him to move to this position.
“Personally I am delighted for a couple of reasons.
“Firstly, he is the latest addition to a portfolio of really high-quality, vibrant and new generation stadium sponsors.
“All of these companies, through their association, bring energy to the stadium and I have learned through the years that that makes things happen.
“Secondly, Fantastic Media is a really top-class company and Andy is a great fellow and I know we will have a lot of fun down here during the five years of the deal.”
