ARTISTS have finished a set of angel sculptures.

The works were completed at the Stansfields craft studio in Almondbury over the last two weekends.

Artists Heather Crompton, Lea Torp Nielsen and Lorraine Botterill carved the wooden angels with chainsaws.

Heather, who lives in Golcar, said: “They are three different interpretation of angels. Mine is a strong, energetic piece while Lorraine’s has enormous wings.

“Lea’s is entitled Gone Fishing as it’s just a halo and wings.”

Heather enjoyed the experience of making the angels, adding: “The three of us would like to work together again.”

The sculptures have been named Charlie’s Angels after Stansfields owner Charles Turner.

He said: “I thought the name would be appropriate and I think they look wonderful.” Charles would like local churches and schools to hire out the pieces.

He said: “I hope the sculptures would provoke discussions on what angels mean, because it’s a concept which exists in several religions.”
