A CAMPAIGN bus took to the streets to spread the message: “There is no such thing as the dog poo fairy.”

Calderdale Council has joined forces with Keep Britain Tidy to wage war against irresponsible dog owners who don’t pick up after their pets. They are calling on dog owners in Calderdale to bag it and bin it.

Clr Barry Collins, Cabinet member for economy and the environment, said: “The council received almost 5,000 complaints regarding dog fouling in the last financial year.

“We recognise that it is a really important issue and we hope that this campaign will bring about some real changes.”

As part of the drive, dog wardens will be taking to the streets with waste bags and poop-scoops enforcing dog owners to pick up and bin mess.

Campaign buses will be driving around the area spreading the message.
