THEY came to say goodbye to their mum - the best mum ever.

Four young children, left to grieve after a terrible, tragic crime, paid a moving tribute to their mother yesterday.

And they were joined by hundreds more at Huddersfield Crematorium for a tearful funeral service for Theresa Simpson.

Mrs Simpson, 35, was killed at her home in Honley last month.

Yesterday - a day after what would have been her 36th birthday - her children led the mourning. Jamie, 16, Charlotte, 15, Rebecca, 13, and Duane, 11, also left a floral tribute in the word Mum.

They had travelled to the service with other relatives to join a huge congregation which spilled out of the Crematorium chapel.

The Rev David Barnes, of St Mary's Church, Honley, who led the service, said: "She was not just a good mum, she was a brilliant mum.

"Theresa was certainly a woman who loved life, who loved to party and who loved to shop, but most of all she loved her family."

Theresa's brother David read out poignant tributes from both Charlotte and Rebbeca.

Charlotte said: "No amount of pain can take away the loss I feel of my mum and my best friend. She was an amazing woman who always wanted to do her best for us. I think she did."

And Rebecca said: "She was fantastic. I miss her a lot but everyone is on my side and I don't plan to be sad all the time."
