Netherton businessman Stephen Taylor was more than a little annoyed when his van was attacked by a thief.
But his anger turned to disbelief when he found the thief had ignored equipment such as a satnav system and stole - a table leg.
But this was no ordinary table leg. It was a leg from a classic 1960s design by Danish experts Frem Rojle and Hans Olson.
Mr Taylor had been working to restore the teak table and four chairs, which he believes are worth about £500, and had spent a long time on the renovations.
“They had found my satnav but left it and the only thing they took was the table leg”, said Mr Taylor, of Roslyn Avenue.
“I contacted all the neighbours and we spent hours wandering the area looking in gardens and woodland to see if the table leg had been dumped.
“It is of no use to anyone other than me but now I have been left with a three-legged table”.
Mr Taylor, who runs Humpers Removals Service, offered a reward for the return of the leg.
