Thieves target council grit bins

THIEVES have already stolen grit bins even though temperatures have only just started to plummet. Kirklees councillor Cahal Burke spoke out about the issue at this week’s monthly meeting of Kirklees Council. The Lindley Lib Dem said: “Thirteen bins were emptied in the first week and three bins were stolen. If these thefts were to continue it would cost the council thousands.” The council’s Cabinet member for investment Clr David Sheard told Wednesday’s meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall: “We will do whatever we can to stop these thefts”.
