THIEVES trashed a village house for the sake of a few hundred pounds of scrap.
The intruders broke into Lepton Grange on Wakefield Road and caused many thousands of pounds damage.
They smashed about 60 windows and panes of glass throughout the house. They also ripped radiators and fittings off the walls.
The house has been up for sale in recent weeks.
It is believed the thieves were after copper pipes from the water system and copper from the wiring.
They burned plastic off the cables in the garden.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the raid, which happened between August 22 and 25, to come forward.
Witnesses should contact Pc Keith Henry on 0845 6060606.
