Filming is expected to start in the spring on a third series of the drama Broadchurch.

And Huddersfield actress Jodie Whittaker is again hoping to be rejoining the cast.

She played Beth Latimer, mother of murdered youngster Danny Latimer, in the first two series of the crime drama.

But as yet ITV have only confirmed that stars David Tennant and Olivia Colman will be returning for the third series.

Colman confirmed that they were starting filming in May. She said she “loved” the role but didn’t envy writer Chris Chibnall at the pressure of making the third outing a success.

“The expectation is quite scary, but luckily that’s not my job that’s Chris’s job.

“Poor Chris. I love it though, we all get on it’s like a family.”

Broadchurch is set to be wound up by writer Chris Chibnall despite ITV bosses wanting the series to continue.

The drama has seen audiences hooked on the twists and turns of life after a horrifying murder in a small Dorset village.

A staggering 10 million fans were glued to each of the two series, which ran from March 2013 and again starting in January last year.

A show insider said: “Series three will be the end of the drama in Dorset. Obviously the programme has been a massive ratings winner for ITV and bosses are desperate for it to carry on but Chris always devised the story as a trilogy.”
