A Thongsbridge care home has been rated as “requires improvement” following a Care Quality Comission (CQC) report.

White Rose House, situated next to the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital on Huddersfield Road, is run by care company Meridian Healthcare Ltd.

The privately-owned home currently has 64 residents, according to its website.

Other care homes in Kirklees including Valley View Care Home in Fenay Bridge, Burgundy Care Services in Honley and Willow House in Liversedge were all rated as “Good”.

Owners of the home have now set up an action plan to tackle the issues.

Problems outlined in the report at the White Rose home included records of residents at nutritional risk and risk assessments that were not up to date.

The home received a “requires improvement” rating for all areas including safety, care, effectiveness, response levels and how well-led the home was.

Debbie Westhead, CQC’s Deputy Chief Inspector for Adult Social Care in the North, said: “People are entitled to services which provide safe, effective, compassionate and high quality care.

“If we find that a service requires improvement, we will expect them to provide us with a full plan setting out how they will address the issue.

“We will share our findings with local commissioners, and we will return in due course to check that they have made the required improvements.

A spokesman for Meridian Healthcare, who own White Rose House, said: “Nothing is more important to us than the wellbeing, health and safety of those we support.

“We were pleased the Care Quality Commission report contained positive feedback in a number of areas, as well as supportive statements from the residents and relatives who use our services.

“We also received clear guidance on some areas where we could make improvements. On the day of the inspection, in July 2015, we immediately provided the CQC with a comprehensive action plan detailing how we would address their findings.

“We working closely with all appropriate authorities to deliver this plan and ensure they are updated on progress. We look forward to demonstrating the improvements we have made at our next inspection.”
