THOUSANDS of passengers had their travel plans wrecked when a UK to USA all-business class airline stopped flights.

About 7,000 UK and 2,500 non-UK customers were affected as cash problems led to the suspension of services by Silverjet yesterday.

The carrier, which began services in January, 2007, flew from Luton airport to New York and Dubai.

Allan Cambridge, 62, from Huddersfield, said: “I’m a businessman and regularly use Silverjet to fly to America. I’m shocked and disappointed to learn of its closure. It offered a quick and easy service. I’m just glad I’m flying with another airline this time.”

Meanwhile Silverjet employees were left with an uncertain future.
