A woman driver and her 10-month-old baby have been seriously injured in a head-on crash in Scapegoat Hill.

Both the mother and her daughter were airlifted to hospital in separate air ambulances which landed at the scene  off New Hey Road.

The 25-year-old woman suffered leg injuries and her daughter suffered facial injures.

Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening and they are both being treated at Leeds General Infirmary.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, a red BMW, was also injured and taken by land ambulance to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The collision happened at 11.34am at the junction of Round Ings Road and New Hey Road.

Police, fire and ambulance were on the scene for over an hour and the road was closed.
