TWO Huddersfield businessmen are set to drive more than a 1,000 miles on a Reliant Robin Rally to France.
Friends Mark Ronan, from Clayton West, and Michael Charlton, from Fixby, hope to raise £20,000 for the Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund by taking part in the charity challenge from Essex to Paris and back in July.
Mark, 37, said: “It’s a good charity, we know the chairman, and on top of that my wife’s grandma had a kidney transplant that gave her a good 15 years extra.
“There’s 11 or 12 cars confirmed so far but we’re the only one from Yorkshire.
“We have supported quite a few charities before but this is the first time we have gone out and bought a car and decided to have a go.”
Mark and Michael bought the old Reliant off eBay for £581 and handed it to their mates at Northern Commercials who fitted it out free-of-charge.
It is set to get its first public outing when it’s paraded around the Galpharm at half-time of the Carlisle game on April 13.
Any companies that would like to have their logo on the car can contact Mark on 07980 546572.
