THREE hotstepping young lads scooped a trio of awards at the Junetide Dance Festival in Batley.

Alex Starke won the junior classical duets trophy along with Sammy Jackson, Conrad Berriff won the junior novice modern trophy and Sammy also won the most promising junior dancer award.

Elizabeth Haigh, a teacher at the Tristan Dance Studios, Lockwood, said: “They did really well, they love to dance and it takes real stamina and fitness.

“We have fewer boys than girls dancing, but it’s something that everyone should get involved in because of the health benefits.”

Tristan Dance also came runner up in the competition to find the best junior troupes.
