A PENSIONER was beaten up and robbed at his isolated farm by masked men with crowbars and hammers.

Kenneth Walker, 69, suffered a broken ankle, two black eyes, an injured leg and wrist injuries in the attack as he arrived at his home on Beestonley Lane, Stainland, at 2.30pm on Tuesday.

Three thugs demanded money and kept hitting him until he handed over £1,000.

Mr Walker's phone was not working and he could not call help until the milkwoman arrived on Wednesday morning.

He said: "It was a terrifying experience - but I've lived here all my life and I'm not leaving now."

Det Insp Jeff Ashton, of Calderdale CID, said: "I would appeal to members of the criminal fraternity who, like myself, are horrified at what has been done, to give us a hand on this one.

"It was an absolutely horrific attack and Mr Walker was left there all night with his injuries."
