ANOTHER pub is backing a mountain rescue team by selling a special ale brewed in its honour.

The 3.8% red ale, called Rescue Red, has been brewed by The Nook Brewhouse in Holmfirth, which has supported Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team (HVMRT) for years.

And 10p from every pint of Rescue Red sold will go towards the team’s efforts to build new headquarters at the Robert Ashton Memorial Park, Meltham.

Now The Woodman at Thunderbridge has agreed to sell Rescue Red and match The Nook in donating 10p from every pint to the cause.

HVMRT provides volunteer search and rescue services for the southern half of West Yorkshire.

Team members are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to incidents on the moors and upland areas.

The team also assists police with missing person searches and helps the ambulance service with casualties in difficult-to-reach situations.

HVMRT is currently based at Marsden Fire Station, which is set to close in a move which will save West Yorkshire Fire Authority £250,000 a year.

HVMRT already relies on donations from charitable group and the public to meet its £10,000 annual running costs and will need to raise a substantial sum to get its new HQ up and running.
