A WOMAN was taken to hospital following a road smash near the River Colne in Aspley this morning.

A WOMAN was taken to hospital following a road smash near the River Colne in Aspley this morning.

The collision between a Skoda Fabia and a Ford Transit at the junction of Newsome Road and Kin'gs Bridge happened about 7.15am.

Firefighters from Huddersfield and Elland attended the incident to free the woman from her car.

It is thought the driver of the van was not injured.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
