A MAN is in hospital in Huddersfield with serious head injuries.

Now police are trying to determine how the man came by his injuries.

They do not know if he was attacked, or the victim of a fall or accident.

The man was found with a suspected fractured skull in a street.

The 38-year-old comes from Rastrick but has not been named.

He was discovered unconscious by a passer-by in Church Street, Rastrick, just before midnight on Tuesday night.

The victim was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries and he remains in intensive care.

Det Insp Tony Nicholson said: "We are trying to piece together exactly what happened to this man.

"It might simply be nothing more untoward than an accident or it could be something more serious, we just don't know the circumstances".
