A MOTHER and baby escaped serious injury when they were involved in a crash with a double decker bus.

The collision happened in Holmfirth at the junction of Woodhead Road and Greenfield Road at 9.50am on Wednesday.

There were no passengers on board when the First bus and Renault Clio hit.

The 35-year-old bus driver, from Deighton, suffered back injuries in the smash.

He had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters.

The Clio driver , a 32-year-old Holmbridge woman, suffered whiplash and minor injuries.

The baby travelling in the back of her car was unharmed.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who saw the crash to come forward.
