COMMUTERS faced long tailbacks this morning after a car crashed into pedestrian crossing barriers in the town centre shortly after 7am.
The blue BMW saloon car was badly damaged during the incident ouside St Paul's Hall on Queensgate.
Traffic police spent more than an hour at the scene and morning queues were down to one lane.
The condition of the driver is not yet known.
