WITH Christmas less than three weeks away, people are busy buying and wrapping presents and stocking up kitchen cupboards.

But for many people, the granting of one simple wish may be all they need to make their festive dreams come true.

Today, for the third year, Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table has teamed up with the Examiner to launch its Christmas Wish Campaign and to offer to play Santa Claus to some very special people.

A bumper pot of cash, raised by the Round Table this year, by events such as the Holmfirth Duck Race and Bonfire Night, is available for deserving good causes.

Andrew Spencer, chairman of the Round Table, said: "We want to brighten up the lives of people who have had a difficult time or who have worked hard supporting others during 2005; people who you think deserve a special treat this Christmas. The smallest of wishes might be all that is needed.

"So, if you know of anyone who deserves having a special wish granted, just let us know."

The Round Table has started the campaign by donating cash to the Pennine Domestic Violence Group and funding a Christmas party for 28 women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence and are having to spend Christmas away from their homes, families and friends.

The rules of the campaign are simple. You may apply for yourself, your children, parents, other relatives, friends or neighbours; you can even apply on behalf of a voluntary organisation in need of help.

It could be a family who have struggled against adversity, someone who has supported others in need, or a voluntary organisation that needs help with a Christmas project.

The application may be made using the form above, which should be posted to: Round Table Christmas Wish, Huddersfield Daily Examiner, PO Box A26, Queen Street South, Huddersfield, HD1 2TD, or you can send an email to chairman @pendragon843.org.uk.

Extra copies can be downloaded from www.pendragon843.org.uk. The closing date is Monday, December 12.

The applicant should say whether the person they are nominating is happy to appear in the Examiner.
