A TODDLER was locked in a car for an hour.

Firefighters tried in vain to break into the Vauxhall Corsa - and the 20-month-old boy thought the game was great fun!

He and his mum, from Cowlersley, were visiting friends in Lowestwood Lane, Slaithwaite, when he somehow got stuck.

Leading Firefigher Steve Kain, of Slaithwaite Fire Station, said: "He got shut inside with the keys in the ignition.

"He'd been in his child seat but got out, took the keys out of the ignition and put them in the pocket of the door.

"Then we managed to fish the keys out through a small gap in the door, using a coat hanger.

"We could have broken the window and got him out straight away but we wanted to save his mum the expense!"

Leading Firefighter Kain added: "The little lad loved the attention. He thought it was a great game."
