A 10-YEAR-OLD Huddersfield girl has won an award for her amazing courage.

And now Ayeesha Javaid is to travel to London to meet the Prime Minister's wife, Cherie Blair.

She will also meet celebrities at Westminster Abbey, have lunch at the House of Lords and then appear on national TV.

The treats have already started for Ayeesha, of Crosland Moor, after she was one of 10 winners of Woman's Own magazine's Child Of Courage awards.

Ayeesha loves Coronation Street and spent a day on the set meeting the stars.

Her mum, Rukhsana, said: "Ayeesha had a brilliant day and can't wait to go to London in mid- December.

"There have been so many ups and downs in her life and it can be really tough at times.

"She has been through so much, but the tears just flowed when I saw her meeting the stars from Coronation Street. They treated her like a princess."

Ayeesha suffers from Von Willibrand's Disease, a rare, but severe, bleeding disorder.

She also has a condition which affects her bone marrow, so it does not produce white blood cells and leaves her unable to fight infections.

This means her mum has to put drugs directly into her heart three times a week, to help her clotting disorder.

If Ayeesha starts to bleed it is very difficult to stem the flow.

Rukhsana has to give her daughter injections twice weekly for the bone marrow problem, too.

Ayeesha also needs many other medicines for her bone marrow.

Rukhsana, who works for Kirklees Council's licensing department, said family, friends, work colleagues and Ayeesha's school had been very supportive.

Rukhsana said: "Ayeesha goes to Crosland Moor Junior School and headteacher Tina Blackaby has given me wonderful support."

Rukhsana and her husband, Amjed, have another daughter, three-year-old Iqra, who has a very mild version of Von Willibrand's. But she will be able to lead a normal life.

Rukhsana added: "I've had wonderful support from my family, especially Ayeesha's uncle, Mohammed Rauf, who is always on call. He's forever there for us in an emergency."

Another good friend is Sarah Bartlett, of Holmfirth, who gave Ayeesha support at nursery, infants and junior schools.
